Passalacqua unveils new indoor pool

It’s exciting enough to acquire a historic villa on Lake Como complete with stables, boat jetty and extensive landscaped gardens. It’s even more thrilling to know that a romantic tunnel, built towards the end of the 18th century, runs underneath those gardens. It’s a hidden delight, one we determined should be used to surprise and delight our guests. The tunnel or galleria was originally a secret passageway leading from villa to lake, from land and society to water and nature, so it seemed apt to turn part of it into the wet zone of the Spa.

The transformation of this magical underground realm is now complete with the inauguration of our heated indoor pool, which opens out from a delightful rock-hewn relaxation grotto into the long, luminous pool area, protected from the elements by the restored glass wall and lean-to roof of one of the villa’s former greenhouses.

Lined in aqua-hued Palladian-style tiles that reflect natural light and the pale Moltrasio stone of the galleria, the 20-meter-long pool is a floating world suspended between rock, garden, water and sky – the essence of Lake Como distilled into one secret, exclusive ambience.

The indoor pool is not the only Spa novelty for 2024. Inspired by our new collaboration with natural, organic skincare line Seed to Skin Tuscany, we have opened an al fresco treatment area – in the fruit garden.

In this verdant green world, under a handsome gazebo that seems a fabled chivalric pavilion, guests can now enjoy Passalacqua’s signature treatments, shaded and soothed by the fruit and foliage of our orchard terrace where ancient heirloom varieties flourish, caressed by gentle breezes, rapt by ever-changing lake views.
